From September, Signature Audio Systems (SAS) will distribute Thorens new range of turntables and accessories. Kevin Akam (SAS owner) flew to Cologne in Germany to meet Thorens owner Gunter Kurten for some intensive product training and to seal the deal. Since Gunter bought Thorens 2 years ago he has spent that time reviewing and revising their range.

Gunter was asked why Thorens needed a new range of turntables. “The previous range was to broad, far too many models and variants, we recognise the quality was not at a level that we could be happy with. Thorens has been making musical products for 137 years and turntables for 92 years. We have a huge heritage with some classic turntables that dominated the market during the late 1950s through to the 1970s and 80s. I took the essence of some of those models and developed them with new materials, implemented new technologies and now we have a full range of amazing turntables from budget through to our high-end products. The quality, finish and sonic performance really is excellent and I am happy that the Thorens range of turntable and accessories is once again excellent”.
