VAC (Valve Amplification Company) – Many hifi companies claim to make the best products in the world, it is a claim that is never really put to the test. VAC tube amps live up to that claim and this has been qualified across numerous magazines and reviewers who have awarded VAC products with a “Reference” status. Each VAC product is hand crafted with extensive use of point-to-point, hand-wiring designs as opposed to printed circuit boards and ribbon cables. The best components are hand-picked and assessed through a rigorous voicing process before being approved for use with VAC products. An example of this is the large volume control on their Preamplifiers. With a direct cost of $1k, it is chosen because it sounds “the most musical”. That’s a level of detail you won’t find elsewhere. “Sublime, effortless and oozes finesse” are how Ken Kessler sums up his latest review of the Signature Mk 11a Special Edition Preamplifier and the Signature 200iQ monoblock Power Amps. Listening to VAC amplification is an experience you will not forget quickly, nor will you want it to pass you by.
Canor Audio – This brand has been quietly designing and building hifi products for the past 25 years. Based in Slovakia, several very well-known brands have their amplifiers manufactured by Canor but this is a secret. Their own brand pf amplifiers, integrated CD/Dacs and phono preamplifiers are big hitters at affordable prices. Valve, Hybrid and Solid-State amplification options prove Canor can work their magic with each topology. Canor have a patented valve testing technology which ensures perfect performance. Increased system power is available with the bridging of their AI 1.20 amplifiers. Valve driven integrated CD players that are so neutral and lastly two value Phono Preamplifiers that sound so lush. Great products, great value for money and an aesthetic that is very easy on the eye.
Zesto Audio – George Counnas wasn’t happy with the sound he heard from digital products. With a background in designing and manufacturing tube circuits for navigational systems for the RAF, he knew he could do better. He has created a beautiful range of valve products that take the tube designs and circuits from the 1930s and used his CAD software to simulate electronic circuits. Experienced with capacitors, transformers and voicing products, the Zesto range must be heard to be appreciated. Preamplifiers, Power Amplifiers and Phono Preamplifiers and a very special Step-up transformer for the ultimate audio connoisseur to create the perfect match between your cartridge and any Phono stage.
Duevel Omnidirectional Loudspeakers – If the seated position of the listener is not in the perfect “A-Frame” the sound from directional speakers can be heavily compromised. Modern homes can make this all the more difficult with limited space and the listening position becomes even more difficult. Duevel omnidirectional speakers overcome this problem by filling the room with music via 360 degrees from drivers that face upward on to a diffuser or a horne. Sit off beam and the soundstage is perfect, in fact sit (more or less) anywhere in the room and you’ll have a great soundstage. Duevel Loudspeakers come in stunning finishes. There are 4 models in their range below £10k which ensures Duevel’s omnidirectional speakers are easily the most affordable.
